i’m not dead! i still exist, just squint your eye a bit

Blah I’ve been so caught up with all of life’s flow that I haven’t posted anything in a while. This blog is starting to look like all my other blogs in the past; dead, forgotten, quite… but I’m determined for history not to repeat itself so I’m going to try my best to post all my latest work on here. Summer vacation is now over and now I’ve entered a more time consuming environment, college. I already know updating this blog is going to be difficult now more than ever, but I really want people to see what I’ve created and get feedback on what I’ve done. I want to further advance my mind and capabilities this semester, something I’ve been slacking on the past semesters because of old problematic habits.

Well anyways, this semester I’ve got a really interesting art class called ‘Concepts In Drawing’ taught by the very talented artist Nick Taggart and I’m really looking forward in seeing what I’ll produce in the upcoming weeks of school. Here’s a little information about the course.

Course activity: This course will entail developing a breadth of drawing skills and approaches during class time and at home. Students will refine and redefine concepts in drawing using a range of media.  Studio work, discussions, slide and power point presentations, group critiques of projects, local gallery visits and reports make up the core of this course.  Drawing is a disciplined activity, expect to devote several hours each week outside of class to complete the required course projects.

Student Learning Outcome: The student will be expected to demonstrate the ability to solve various intermediate drawing problems creatively, technically, materially, and conceptually.
The student will learn how to put a personal voice into drawing practices and apply creative critical thinking skills in class discussions, critiques and general art practices.

Sounds fun right? Well I’m excited. I’m going to make the effort to try and post all my classwork on the blog.

Here’s a little art for the post. Nothing too exciting, I was just wandering off in Trigonometry the other day and started drawing ‘where the wild things are’. Math can get so dull sometimes, or all the time for that matter.

Haha well I’m out. In a little bit I’m going off with two of my friends to take the trains over to Downtown LA. We’re gonna walk around and enjoy the sites and I’m going to bring my d40 and a sketchbook. The city is my inspiration!! I’m excited. hahha alright, peace! take care!

this is a sketch dump… i repeat.. a sketch dump!

I’ve been meaning to throw these out on the table for a while but just been neglecting to do it because I didn’t want to go to the process of photographing all of my sketches, uploading them, resizing them, and then arranging them into a present-worthy image, but since I had nothing to do today I said what the hell, why not? If I want to share my illustrations with the world, I’m going to have to do work! So I did work. I photographed some some of my sketches from 2008-2009. A lot of them unfinished thoughts that my mind leaked onto paper.

I’ll be fixing up this blog this week. I’ll try to make it look spiffy just for you!

Say welcome to the time tormentor

This is a new painting I have finished recently. It was a gift for a friend for her birthday and it was also my final project for my life drawing class. While I think it came out well, I see now a lot of things I would still change about it if the painting were still in my posession. I feel like the composition around the upper middle half of the painting could be better if I expanded the clouds to just above the cityscape. Although overall… I still like the end product. But I’m not completely satisfied.. and right now my gut is urging me to ask for the painting back just for a day so I can just add some touchups and brush in some clouds or two. Blah blah blah.

Just set up wordpress on my iphone!

So I’ve just installed the WordPress application on my new iPhone 3G S and by far it is looking quite promising. This application is the exact type of application I was looking for for Google’s blogger service, but since google, for some reason, hasn’t made a iPhoner Blogger app, I’ve decided to move my blog over to WordPress.

Over and out! Time to test out other features. I just can’t get enough of this iPhone. It really is the best pocket device to have.
